I started these the day before yesterday. I was having a blah day and needed something fun and easy and instant and this is what I came up with. They are inspired by a kids programme I was watching the other day. The kids were making a model of a playground that they wanted to build and they were making the model trees by threading circles of card onto skewers.
It immediately appealed to me. You know the sort of immediately where you want to dump your dearly loved child in her cot, tired or not, and get the card and scissors out now. However, being a reasonably decent parent, I was patient and waited until it really was naptime before I started drawing cutting and threading.
It didn't take long for me to realise that plain card was just not enough, we needed fabric too. And of course buttons. So I started fusing and pinking shearing (yes, it is a verb) and hot glue gunning (never done it before - where the hell have I been???). And before you can say "paper, fabric, skewered Christmas trees" we have lots of Paper and Fabric Skewered Christmas Trees (I should work on their name, shouldn't I?).
They are the most fun in the world to make. The most. fun.
