Here he is! A hedgehog.
I really have a problem with writing about the things I make. Which is why I generally resort to a few sentences and lots of pictures.
I often feel the way you do when your showing somebody around your home. You know, when you walk in the kitchen and say "this is the kitchen". Duh.
It just feels a little silly saying this is a hedgehog. Hopefully you can see that this is indeed a hedgehog. If you can't see that this is a hedgehog, please somebody, have the courage to be cruel to be kind and tell me so!
I'm also not very good at explaining how I came up with the design. Mainly because I'm not sure really.
I was looking at a book of toys that I own and there was a really horrible hedgehog in it made from some awful fake fur stuff. It just looked gross. And it got me thinking about how I could make a hedgehogs spikes without using nasty fabric. And before I knew where I was, I was drawing and cutting lots of kite shaped pieces to sew into spikes. Then before I knew it I was spending hours sewing them all on by hand.
I think the thing that I like best about him is that he's actually turned out almost exactly as I hoped he would. That and the fact that he is the squidgiest (it's a word) hedgehog in the entire world. Seriously he is wonderfully tactile. Both Jim and I have squidged him. But not Bella. We won't let her near him. We're mean like that.
And yes, he is in the shop . Sold, thank you!
