Pardon?

Dscn0179

What's that you say??
You just happened to be strolling past my house today and spotted me working? At my sewing machine?  Using fabric and thread and all manner of notions??
But after all my moaning and bitching yesterday, how could that be??

Well, when I woke up this morning, the very thought of breakfast Did. Not. Make. Me. Puke!
I don't want to say too much because it may be a blip. But today at least, I am feeling ok. In fact, not bad at all. Yup. I feel almost good.
Sssshhhh. My body may hear us and realise that it forgot to make me sick today.

And the fruits of todays relative (it's all relative) burst of energy? Amongst other things, the cushion that you see up there.
It's made from a mix of gorgeous linen (bought in New York) and vintage gingham. And has been quite heavily quilted.
It's for someone special.

And talking of someone special, I am super excited to announce that my wonderful, talented sister-in-law brought my very first niece in to the world this morning!
They've named her Georgia, which I love because it instantly makes me think of Georgia O'Keeffe and things of  beauty.
Congratulations Juliet, I am in awe that you did it naturally, truly in awe.
Happy, happy news indeed!

And tonight I intend to take advantage of this (hopefully not too brief) return to being vaguely interested in food, and go out to dinner with Jim.

Ahh and before I go, can I just say that all your comments on the last post have been wonderful. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading what you're all up to. It's made me feel exactly like I've been able to spend the day catching up with so many special friends. Loved them all. And would love to read more, so if you haven't stopped by and told me what you're up to at the moment, please do - it really has made my day hearing from you all. And it's so much more fun than just talking about me all the time!!

Hi Manda!

Well done on the crafting! So good to hear that you're feeling a little better.... I hope it lasts for you!

I've been making toys, writing quilt tutorials and undergoing a name change, as well as thinking of you and sending lots of love to MP-2!!!

I hope the goodness keeps on coming,
Leah xx

Congratulations on the new niece! Georgia is a beautiful name. I didn't check in yesterday and am so pleased to hear that you're feeling a bit better (sorry about the cold) and managed some food and crafting. As for me, my twins started kindergarten this week, and I am in tears sending them off. It goes so fast! Remind yourself of that when Bella is acting two-ish. Hope you and Jim have a yummy dinner!

Glad you're feeling better, the cushion is lovely. I haven't been up to anything very exciting lately, it was my younger brothers birthday at the weekend so we went out to celebrate with a good old-fashioned pub crawl!
Have a lovely evening!

Oh I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better! (I'm sure you're even moreso!) Here's hoping it continues and you get to feel GOOD the rest of your pregnancy!

I'm...doing nothing interesting :) Just the usual picking up around the house, trying to finish projects I've started, and playing blocks with my 3 year old. :)

Taking a break to read my blog list =)

Wow-- I popped back in to reply to yesterday's post, and what a very pleasant surprise to discover another post! So, so glad that you're feeling second trimestery today! That's a beautiful cushion to show for it, I might add. And, of course, many congratulations on yor newfound aunthood (and unclehood, to Jim) -- be sure to celebrate with some dessert over dinner tonight!

I can't seem to get a post done, or anything else for that matter. Five half days a week of preschool are coming up and I'm freaked out and excited and can't seem to sleep much. My kids are growing up so fast. I've just hit the phase where I'm "The Worst Mom in the World" or "Not his friend anymore" or someone he "Doesn't Like." It's sad, but at least I read of it happening to others before it slapped me in the face. I'm sewing him some woodgrain pants with sewn-in suspenders before he gets old enough to not want something so silly.

Take care,
Michelle

Glad you're feeling better and are an Auntie! I am counting the days until school goes back (4) and am about to be forced off the computer to play trains...how sick am I of playing trains after nearly 6 years? Can you guess!!

I happened upon your blog a few weeks ago and have enjoyed seeing your beautiful creations. I am so glad that you are feeling better!

Ooooh, could it be? The second trimester right around the corner and the sickness is maybe subsiding??!?!?!

Welcome to the world, little Georgia!!!! Very beautiful and classy name!

Jean

sweet work there - you and your sister in law!
(whisper it now: glad you're feeling a smidge better)
i've been out to roundhay park today - have a little looky at my flickr (hazeljoy) or blog and you'll feel like you were with me!
have a good dinner with jim
xx

So glad to see the morning sickness abating. Now QUICK sew EVERYTHING you need to before baby arrives!

I finished the Heather Ross things and am whimpering in the corner about the bedspread. Luckily my mother has poor vision :)

So glad you are feeling GOOD.

This is what we have been doing..we had a wonderful day in Littlehampton on Sunday made v. special by Billy getting over his dislike of the Sea and paddling away happily for ages. Arrived home v.late and v. tired and v.happy. Painting lots of coast-inspired tiny paintings too.

big love xx

Hello Manda, and welcome back Manda's creative urges! Hope you are having/had a lovely dinner with J. What am I doing - knitting socks and gearing up to making a quilt for my wedding (gotta learn how to sew first - over-ambitious, moi?!)

Glad to hear today was a good day! Hope that dinner out was good! I went to knitting group tonight and as my parents are visiting for a couple of nights my mum came too which was fun! It's such a nice group of people of all ages from 11 to 70! It's so nice to see what everyone is making and to chat - my friend Andrea was just back from 4 nights in New York and was telling us all about Purl Soho!!

Yah! I am constantly in awe of your creativity. I drool over your items daily. How much does it cost to ship overseas? I guess I need to check on that one. Amy

Manda, I'm so glad you've been feeling so cruddy and pregnant. Glad also, that you've had a bit of respite today, and definitely hoping that the suckness abates rapidly and you get to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Half of everyone I know in real life is expecting a baby soon--all girls, so I've been knitting little lacy sweaters for what seems like the whole year. I'm starting to get ideas, though, about full-size sweaters for me. Soon, soon...

What a great recovery! Hey, maybe it's all over for the duration? Shhhh...I won't tell your body that either.

Well, I have a new course starting tonight. This one is pretty important. For the last year I've been talking about how I want to be involved in historic preservation and neighborhood revitalization for a career after I get my degree. Maybe even go to Grad school to study it.

Well, this is the first class in that subject and it's pretty hardcore. Writing assignments, presentation(s!), and case study projects. This is where I find out if it is to be or not to be. I'm really excited, almost as excited as I am scared. Wish me luck!

Congratulations Auntie Manda! Hope you had a wonderful dinner with your hubby.

Oh it's gorgeous! And your new baby niece has a great name. ;-)

hopefully your 2nd tri upswing will stick. i have been in a crafting limbo. we just moved and i am trying to walk a fine line between finding a place for all these things i am unpacking and making messes getting things ready for fall.

its good to see you're feeling better!

i just got back from a weeklong visit w/ my mom, and am trying to get resettled before going back to work friday... taking logan and his other grandmother to the airport tomorrow so they can visit each other for another week... i have't gotten any crafting done in weeks, its been to hot, it hits 100F every day lately... i'm struggling to get my mojo back

Gald to hear your feeling better! And i loooove that pillow! Infact i may just have to copy and make one myself =]

So good to hear you are feeling better and off out for dinner tonight. Here it is approaching lunch time and i too am off out on a birthday lunch date (3 days late).

Lovely sewing, as usual. :) Taking a cue from your very sewy and crafty ways, I finally finished the placemats & napkins I made for my sister's b-day. I hope she likes them. I'm cursing myself for not having a perfectionist gene in my body. *sigh* I'm also currently dealing with pelvic pains (i'm sure you wanted to know THAT) due to the little one I'm incubating...THAT'S what I'm doing right now! Hope you had a fantastic dinner with Jim.

Wishing you more days like this so we can see more of your lovely creations...while having a great pregnancy.
