I'm so torn about the colour scheme for our new kitchen. The doors are white, the tiles are white and the floor's going to be light coloured too, so I know that I want to inject some colour, but I'm still not sure if I want to change it so completely from what is has been for the last few years.
I love mustardy yellows and teal blues, but lets face it, by any other name it's a blue and yellow kitchen - the scourge of the 80's kitchen colour scheme (for those that didn't have terracota like me!). Also, we're heading at a break neck speed towards Christmas and the red and white colour scheme that I so love, which would clash pretty horribly with a mustard and teal background.
I'm obviously going to wait until the kitchen is actually in before I decide, but in the meantime I sit here umming and ahhing over modern yellow and blue or classic scandinavian blue and white (with a touch of red). It's not such a bad problem to be faced with, is it.
Gorgeous colors! I'm sure with your decorating it would be very modern and chic - not 80's at all.

Do it grey, then you can dress it up with colour with accessories.

What will all your vintage kitchen ware look like against the yellow and teal?
I do love that combination but I would imagine it would be hard to accesorize in a kitchen.
I'm sure you'll make it work though!

I was also going to say to move that teal over to a warm, neutral gray. If you use several shades, from almost-white to medium gray and add accents of mustard, you'll have a really clean, warm, versatile room.

Oooo...I adore that blue fabric. I love, love, LOVE daisies and that fabric is so happy.

That fabric is lovely.
We had a yellow kitchen before. I liked it, but I prefer the icy blue that we have now, because it makes the (wood) cabinets, counters and stuff look so warm in comparison. Hmm, we have white stuff in the kids bathroom and the grey on the walls looks good - again, it makes all the accessories pop and look warm and inviting, yet goes with pretty much all colours.

Oh I love the yellow fabric! I think it would look pretty cute with red and white too. I'm also in a mustard and dark teal phase mixed in with some gray and walnut. Cute blog!

Hi there, yellow looks wonderful but will date horribly in the next 5 years. Try not to mix three colurs go the for the two classic blue/teal type colour and the white and you'll love it...Grey was a real colour of the eighties too and will also date within 5 years...stick with true blue then you can still accessorise with table settings of mustard yellows, greys or red or whatever you like ;-) the accessories can easily change and updated but do you want to be thinking about changing your kitchen in 5 t0 10 years time?

maybe you can paint just one of the kitchen walls in grey and just some mustard yellow accessoiries. (sorry for my bad english).
