I found some beautifully soft blue linen a couple of weeks ago and knew it would be perfect for some summer blouses that I wanted to make for the Spring Fling fair. I'm not often that keen on yellow and blue, I find it either a little insipid if too pastel or a little too 1980's if its too primary. But this linen looks lovely with everything, and especially yellow.
I made a number of different blouses, including a red linen mix with a floral deer and a blue linen with a red deer, but these are the only one's I have left after the fair.
Whilst I love the light blue linen, after a few hours of cutting and sewing pretty pastels, I really felt the need to make it all a little more punk rock! So I made a graffiti deer blouse. And have to admit that I had quite a few grown ups at the fair ask me if I could make this one in their size. It's very tempting, I must say. But in the mean time, Lily's definitely getting one of these, because she's pretty punk rock herself!
I fully intended to get some shots of Lily and my niece wearing these this weekend, but completely forgot to take the blouses with us when we all went to my parents for the day. I was really happy and quite proud to see that all three grand daughters were wearing clothes made by me though. Although I was also a little embarrassed when I realised that my nephew is the only grandchild without clothing made by me. I know he gets crocodiles and stag quilts, but I think it's remiss of me not to have attempted to make him any thing to wear! Of course, at the ripe old age of 7 he may not want to wear anything I could come up with.
I do like a challenge though....
