Jade Sims started off as a blogger, just like the rest of us. But unlike most of us, Jade realised that blogging could actually be about more than comments, and swaps and making new friends. She realised that this amazing community of crafters could actually make a difference to people around the world. People that may have never read a blog, but who could benefit from the 1000's of generous people out there that were happy to help in any way they could. And so Jade's website Craft Hope was born, which grew in no time from 27 pillowcase dresses destined for a childrens shelter in Mexico to 1000's of crafters all over the world making and donating burp cloths, handmade dolls, quilts and knitted caps intended for needy recipients across the world.
When Jade approached me and asked me to contribute to the Craft Hope book, there was no way I could say no. It is not only an honor to be included in a book that features such designers as Kaari Meng, Jhoanna Monte, Amanda Soule and Celine Dupuy as well as many others, but it is even more of an honor to be included in a book that can do so much good.
With 32 different patterns, that range from quilts, bibs, childrens dresses and newborn caps to bird stamps, art cases and jewellry, the book covers all interests and abilities and is full of designs that you will not only want to donate to the suggested charities but also make for yourself.
Craft Hope is published by Lark Books and you can read more about it here. You can also read more about the featured designers (including me!) here.
And if you would like to win a copy of the book, you can do that too, by leaving a comment anytime between now and September 1st. After which, using the Random Number Generator, I will choose one lucky person to send a copy to.
