I love wool felt, not the craft felt that you can get in Hobbycraft or the 30% wool, 70% synthetic that's available, but the thicker, 100% wool felt that's perfect for bigger projects like cushions or slippers as well as applique etc.
Since posting about the felt cuffs that I've been making, I've had a lot of emails from people, particularly in the UK, saying how hard it can be to get hold of good quality wool felt. And especially hard to get hold of decent colours.
And I agree. I've spent a lot of time buying pieces from here and there. For a while I was able to get it from a seller at the Festival of Quilts, so would stock up every year, until sadly that seller stopped offering it.
And of course I always pick up as many 2nd hand wool jumpers as possible to full them myself, but for some reason I don't come across too many here in Leeds.
So I decided to go through my collection of felt, group some of my favourite colours together and put some of it for sale in my Etsy shop.
A lot of what I have are one offs, so I may not be able to list too many of the same packs, but I love the quality of this felt so much and was able to cut up quite a few pieces. It's not a new career move or anything, I just thought I'd stop keeping all this gorgeous felt to myself!
The size of each piece is approxiamatly 8" x 12" and the felt itself is 1/8th of an inch thick, making it perfect for most projects. It's thicker than a lot of felt out there, but still thin enough to handle easily.
After cutting up these pieces I was left with a pile of different sized scraps which I thought I'd offer as a little giveaway. The pieces aren't huge, but they're big enough for most smaller projects and there's quite a lot of them!
If you'd like me to send you my big bag of felt pieces just leave a comment and on Wednesday 15th I'll pick out a name randomly and send that lucky person all the felt in the picture below!
The rest of this felt, plus much more is now available in my shop.
