This weekend I taught a patchwork table runner workshop in Darlington and in preparation made this one for our kitchen table, using the pattern that I teach.
I took my colour inspiration from the existing colour palette in our kitchen but also from these images that I have pinned on Pinterest.
Crescent Moon lino block print by Giuliana Lazzerini.
Yellow and brown check cotton.
The table runner is pretty quick to make and includes both a pinwheel block and basic four patch blocks. It's a good project for beginners at patchwork because it not only comes together pretty quickly but it's also not a huge leap from the table runner to an actual quilt.
The four prints that I've used are Ragg Tagg, which is part of the gorgeous Shades of Grey collection by Daisy Janie, the Diamond Chevron voile from the Greenfieldhill collection by Denyse Schmidt, Amy Butler's Coriander in pine and a mustard linen that I picked up a few years ago. For the sashing I've used natural linen and for the backing, a plain mustard coloured cotton.
Talking of runners, (slightly tenuous link, I admit) I've got less than a week until my run for charity and I'd like to thank everyone that has helped me smash my target! Of course, that's not to say that I wouldn't still be extremely grateful for more sponsorship, because every penny really does help! So if you can spare a little something to help research and treat cancer, please do pop over to my Just Giving page. And in the mean time, I'm still training hard and hoping that I'll manage the 10k!
