12am at night, just as I got in to bed, I realised that they needed satchels. It's what's been missing all along.
I made the first couple out of felt, because sewing something this small makes it tough to enclose raw edges. But they looked too fake.
So I tried it out with leather, and they look exactly how I wanted them to.
I really enjoy sewing with leather. I'm lucky to have quite a large collection of beautifully soft leather, in lots of amazing colours, and it's perfect for these tiny satchels.
The thing that I enjoy the most about sewing for foxes and badgers is that I can have an idea, sketch out the pattern and make it, all within less than an hour. And if it doesn't work, I've wasted hardly any time or fabric and I can start all over again.
These foxes and their satchels are on their way to The Contemporary Craft Festival Shop in Bovey Tracey, Devon.
I love sewing lots of little outfits for the animals (that makes me sound a little off kilter, right?). And I love the fact that they all look so much more stylish than I do!
There are some new foxes in the shop now.
