It was lovely to wake up to a sunny Sunday morning today, although it's a shame that Jim had to work all weekend, so he had already left before we all woke up.
The girls and I started the day with a late breakfast of a tea cake for Lily, cornflakes for Bella and bacon and scrambled eggs for me.
And although I had intended to take my breakfast back to bed, because I'm still suffering a little from the flu I had last week, it was so lovely and sunny in our kitchen that I couldn't bear to leave it.
So I put on the radio (I'm still very much enjoying my Christmas present), and enjoyed the bright light (whilst ignoring how dirty it made my house look).
While I relaxed, Bella finished off her homework ( I still find it odd that she has home work that is online, even though I live more than half my life online!).
And then Lily decided that it needed to be a spa/make over day! And I suddenly and clearly, saw my future with two girls in the house, arguing over make up.
We popped out this afternoon so that I could pick up my new (and first) glasses, which was useful, because it meant that I could see how well Lily did my make up....
And then we ended the day with my favourite Lemon and Oregano Lamb, recipe by Tessa Kiros, with cauliflower cheese, roasted asparagus and baked carrots.
All of which makes it sound like a perfect weekend. But of course the reality is that it was interspersed with grief (it was my Dad's birthday yesterday, which is hard without Mum), children shouting (they both seem to believe that they're already teenagers) me sulking (I hate it when Jim works weekends, especially because he lives away during the week) and once again dealing with nits! Seriously, how many times?!?
But in between all of that reality, these lovely moments happened. And it's worth paying attention to that.
