I keep promising to make Lily a new dress and so far in the A Dress for Lily pile we have two different floral Liberty prints, a pink and red dot cotton, a grey cotton London (Big Ben) print and another London (Big Ben) Liberty print.
I picked up several metres of this jersey last week, with Bella in mind, but when Lily saw it she asked if I would add it to her pile (I'm not sure she believes that the pile will ever be anything other than a pile). And this weekend I remembered the Figgy's Tee for Two pattern that I bought years ago, that would be perfect for it.
The pattern has exposed seams that are topstitched, and only 4 pieces to it, none of which are hemmed. So it was a very quick and easy make, that took just over an hour.
I messed it up a little on the neckline, because I was in a rush and rather than take the extra time it took to read the instructions, I just bodged it. But other than that, I am really happy with the finished dress and Lily loves it. In particular it's a hit because of the way the seams are finished. Lily has an issue with the way clothes feel, and the fact that the seams are finished on the outside makes this dress particulary comfortable for her.
Because it was such a quick sew and has such a lovely shape to it, I'll definitely be making more of these for Lily. Which means that some new fabrics have been added to the pile.
See....
