When the weather is like this I can honestly say that there is nowhere I'd rather live than the UK. My blog feed and IG feed is full of the most amazing pictures from around the country at the moment. All of which makes me realise just how little of the country I have explored since having the girls. And how much I want them to see and appreciate what a beautiful land they live in.
Today we took the girls out to Otley to have lunch at the Cheerful Chilli tearooms. It was recommended to me just this week, when I was looking for somewhere to take the girls for coffee and cake. But today was the first chance we had to head out as far as Otley.
It's actually only 30-40 minutes away from where we live and is definitely worth the effort. Set in the most beautiful setting just on the Otley Chevin, the restaurant and tearooms are a lovely place to sit and enjoy freshly made panini's, salads, tarts, curry and cakes, plus lovely coffee. Because of it's justified popularity and the fact that we arrived mid afternoon (after visiting the Otley car boot sale), we were a little disappointed to find that most of the menu was already sold out, but our disappointment was short lived when our lunch arrived (you can see in the photo of our lunch that I couldn't even wait long enough to take a photo before trying the gorgeous quiche and salad), as everything tasted beautiful. The food is vegetarian, which suits us, as Bella has been a vegetarian for quite a while now and I was one for years, but even if you aren't you really wouldn't feel that you were missing out. The only problem that we had was with Lily, who after being born with food allergies (that she's now grown out of) still struggles with anything dairy based or wheat based, so is often very limited when we eat out, and usually sticks mainly to meat! The whole atmosphere though is so lovely that the girls were happy running around in the courtyard outside while Jim and I enjoyed our coffees (and finished off Bella's huge bowl of soup and bread!).
Even though it's a bit of a drive for us, Jim and I definitely intend to go back in the evening to try out the restuarant menu, which I've heard very good things about.
If you find yourself in the area - and you really should at some point - then you can't go wrong with a visit to the Cheerful Chilli. Just do take in to account how popular it is and how busy it can get!
