Mega Monday Post Part 1

Having asked a few posts back which was better, mega posts or individual smaller posts,  it was obvious that most people prefer a few individual posts - so here goes (please bare with me!).

I was lucky enough to receive a lovely parcel from Blair on Friday! We arranged to do a swap a while ago and she was very kind and sent me some beautiful wool felts, in the just  best colours!

As well as the latest copy of MSL - it's pretty difficult to get it over here, not to mention costing the equivalent of almost $10! Plus a really interesting new magazine about parenting,  that I'm very much enjoying.

And bless her, she also sent Bella a birthday present. It was an instant hit, and has been read everyday since it arrived  (by me of course, Bella's clever but not that clever). Bella just loves it and I love the fact that it has extra thick pages so Bella can't actually eat it!

Thank you so, so much Blair, I really appreciate it! And I can't wait to get to work with those felts!

Kind to be Crewel

Dscn1216

This is my gorgeous new stash of crewel wool! And I fully intend to spend a good couple of hours at some point this week, learning how to turn it into something worthy of its loveliness (that's optimism for you).

I was lucky enough to recieve an Amazon token for Christmas and having decided that I simply have far too much time on my hands, I ordered the incredibly inspiring book, The New Crewel. After all, there's always time for a new craft, isn't there???

Having bought the book I then discovered that there was nowhere in Leeds to buy the wool, but that there is a wonderful, wonderful shop in York called The Viking Loom that sells every colour imaginable! I'm lucky enough to have an insanely accomodating husband who was very happy to drive me straight to York and then walk around with our daughter in her buggy, in the snow (!), without a hat (!! Husband not baby) because the shop was too full to fit the buggy in. Not wanting to push my luck, I didn't spend very long in there, but I highly recommend it to anyone near York that sews, quilts, stitches or scrapbooks. And as well as stocking lots of yummy goods, the staff were very helpful and not at all patronising, which is always a bonus.
